As Batten Disease Disconnects, Music Therapy Connects: A Case Study
This case study explores songwriting within a music therapy program for a young girl living with Batten Disease, a rare and progressive neurological condition. It looks at how creative musical processes can maintain meaningful connection, expression and identity even as the condition gradually disconnects a person from the world around them.
The work was co-authored by Dr Matthew Breaden and Dave Anthony, and published in the Australian Journal of Music Therapy, 32(2), 2021.
